South Lanarkshire Council

The Community Learning Service works with individuals and groups to develop adult learning opportunities in community settings. It also co-ordinates South Lanarkshire Community Learning and Development Partnership's delivery of the Government's strategy on literacy and numeracy.

Our main activities are:

Delivering a range of opportunities for adults in their communities which help them return to work or training, develop their literacy or numeracy skills, or get involved in their local community;

Providing a range of activities with English as a second or other language;

Encouraging, recruiting and training volunteers to help provide learning programmes;

Providing guidance to learners to enable them to make informed choices about their future learning;

Working in partnership with voluntary organisations, colleges, other council departments, employers, statutory agencies, etc to address social inclusion, healthy communities, and active citizenship.
