CVS North Lanarkshire

The Council for Voluntary Services North Lanarkshire (CVSNL) was formed in 2006 to create a unitary organisation which will deliver quality CVS services on a North Lanarkshire wide basis. A CVS is essentially a not for profit organisation established to provide a range of development and support services to the voluntary sector in their area, to help them to become more effective and efficient and to act as their ‘champion’.

A CVS, as the major infrastructure body for the voluntary sector in each local authority area, provides the link between individual organisations, local networks of voluntary organisations and key public and private sector agencies.

The sector needs the CVS at local level to champion the cause of voluntary organisations to influence major contemporary issues, including the reform of charity law, the transition to Community Planning, the Social Justice agenda and the development of the social economy. The benefits of collaboration, networking and engagement in partnerships are seen as increasingly important by the voluntary sector (and by other sectors/agencies in relation to the voluntary sector). CVS are well placed to collaborate with other agencies to produce a shared vision and set of objectives. . The CVS come together as a network, enabling mutual support and learning to occur.
